What is your role in food banking?
I am the Director of Resource Development at Kamloops Food Bank.
Describe a typical day in one word.
Rewarding.
What was your inspiration to get involved in food banking?
My inspiration to get involved came from a concern around food insecurity and a desire to be involved in my community.
What is your greatest achievement in your current role?
My greatest achievement is simply to be in this role, as part of the Kamloops Food Bank team, working everyday to end hunger in our community and beyond.
What is the greatest challenge in your current role?
The greatest challenge is shifting events and fundraising in response to COVID-19.
If you could have one wish granted that would address hunger in Canada what would it be?
My wish would be to remove the stigma around accessing help. I believe it takes strength and courage to seek help when in need.
Which talent would you most like to have?
I’d like to play the drums.
If you could tell your younger self advice, what would it be?
Do not be afraid to make your voice heard. And drink more water!
Who are your heroes? Fictional or real life
My heroes are the volunteers.
What is your idea of happiness?
A quiet Sunday morning with my dog on my lap.
