On September 17, 2018, Food Banks Canada launched its newest, most integrated tool in support of the food bank network. Welcome to Ignite Knowledge Centre!
Over the past year and half, Food Banks Canada has been working on the development of an online learning tool to better connect food banks across Canada. Through extensive research and consultation with the network, we are pleased share this powerful tool to facilitate connection and knowledge exchange across the country.
What is Ignite?
Ignite is an online knowledge exchange community open to the network. Through functions like Message Boards, News, Resources and Learning Opportunities, this tool aims to cultivate a new level of connectivity across the network. Ignite creates the opportunity for you to connect with your fellow food banking colleagues to share your ideas and best practices as well as ask your questions.
How Ignite Supports Your Work
The Resources tool contains hundreds of downloadable resources developed by food banks and Food Banks Canada. Whether you’re looking for a toolkit, job description, or guidelines, you can download valuable resources at the touch of a button, saving you time and money.
“My board directed me to develop an entire Operational Health and Safety Policy for our organization. A pretty big task. I was browsing Ignite and saw similar policies of other food banks had been uploaded by Food Banks Canada. I contacted those food banks and requested permission to use their policies as a template for our own. It has saved us hundreds of hours in labour.”
– Tristan Newsome, Executive Director, Food Bank Society of Whitehorse
If you can’t find what you’re looking for in Resources, start a conversation in the Message Board section – a fellow food bank colleague may have experience in the same area or have ideas on how to tackle your challenge.
Keep track of upcoming webinars and conferences hosted by Food Banks Canada as well as other learning opportunities related to the collective work we do to address hunger across Canada.
